Following the spinoff of xsmart AG from UP-GREAT AG the barcode technology was initially used in mobile tickets and couponing. The breakthrough in couponing for xsmart came in 2005 with the offer to handle a contest series for Swisscom during the opening of the Stade-de-Suisse stadium Berne, and turned out to be groundbreaking for the future of xsmart. It did not take long for the breakthrough in ticketing to follow. Jointly with Tic-Tec, xsmart delivered the mobile ticketing at the 1-to-1 Energy Beach Volleyball Tournament in Gstaad. This was worth a report for the SF 10 vor 10 evening TV show. We were also able to achieve a strong media presence with the parking system that we introduced in Fehraltorf in 2006. This was followed by diverse couponing partnerships, including with McDonalds, Sunrise, Swisscom, World Vision, Face, HP, Ochsner Sport and Renault (see our list of references). Due to our groundbreaking partnership with SIX Payment Services since 2008 we are constantly developing and expanding our joint products and adjusting them to current standards. Smartphone apps, integration into Facebook, and integration into the Apple Passbook as of iOS6 have emerged as entirely new products as a result.
